Autism and the MMR vaccine
The role that the MMR vaccine played in causing Autism used to be controversial, but now the link as clearly been disproven. Every epidemiological study has shown no link. Every court case against the manufacturer of the vaccine has failed. The research that the link was based on has been shown to be fraudulent and has been withdrawn by the medical journal that published it. The lead researcher has been suspended by the Medical Council in the UK for his conduct. Since thiomersal which was the alleged agent in the vaccine that caused Autism was removed from it over 10 years ago, the rate of Autism has gone up. It is unfortunate that those still pursuing this agenda do not direct their energies in a direction that will actually help those with Autism spectrum disorder.
